Assistant Lecturer

Dr. Akerele Ignatius Adelakun is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Obafemi Awolowo University. He holds a Ph.D. (2025), M.Sc. (2022), and B.Tech. (2014) in Urban and Regional Planning.

His research focuses on infrastructure provision, environmental health planning, sanitation practices, and sustainable community development. His doctoral study examined environmental sanitation practices in police barracks in Southwestern Nigeria, while his earlier research addressed infrastructure facilities in farm settlements in Ondo State and planning implications of market location along the Ilesha-Owo Expressway.

Dr. Akerele has published in reputable peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including Scopus-indexed outlets such as the Pakistan Journal of Life and Social Sciences and the Journal of Jilin University (Engineering and Technology Edition). His works address urban services delivery, agrarian infrastructure, corporate social responsibility in SMEs, and environmental sustainability.

He has participated in international and national conferences, including the 5th International European Conference on Interdisciplinary Scientific Research (Valencia, Spain) and the Environmental Design and Management International Conference (EDMIC). His research contributes to inclusive infrastructure development, healthy living environments, and sustainable urban and rural planning in Nigeria.
