My major research activities focused principally on environmental issues and health of surrounding residents/households. I also delved into other human activities within the fabric of environment. The use of Geographic Information System (GIS) as a tool, especially for data collection, data base creation and slum environment restructuring has been demonstrated. For example, I demonstrated the use of GIS as a tool for 11 restructuring slum environment as well as data collection and data base creation (papers ii, iii, xi and xii), which is an innovation in the profession of Urban and Regional Planning. As a Planner, I made progressive contribution in the area of environment and health. This is clearly demonstrated in my Ph.D research work and papers 1 and 3, where household environmental variables were considered as factors responsible for the health of residents.
